THE FELDENKRAIS METHOD® improves posture, coordination and flexibility while increasing the ease,  enjoyment and mastery of movement. It also alleviates pain by minimizing physiological and psychological stress associated with restricted movement habits.   It has been applied in a wide range of fields including medicine,  physical therapy,  sports and physical education,  and the performing arts.

If a picture is worth a thousand words,
a touch or a movement can convey volumes

The Theory of THE FELDENKRAIS METHOD® can seem subtle and complex to newcomers.   In practice,  however,  it is simple,   engaging and down to earth.

THE FELDENKRAIS METHOD® consists of two related techniques:  Awareness Through Movement® (group work) and Functional Integration® (individual work).  Both techniques encourage the learning of  new ways to perceive and organize movement.

Feldenkrais Group Work
In  Awareness Through Movement®,  the practitioner verbally directs the class through a series of movements while guiding their perceptions of the movements. Many exercise programs or movement classes demand that you “perform” according to an externally set standard,  e.g.,  imitating the teacher.  ATM® encourages you to become aware of your internal experience of how you move.  By doing this you can organize your movements more intelligently,  with optimal efficiency and pleasure.  Because of this,  ATM® can give you increased energy,  flexibility and grace in a remarkably short period of time.

Feldenkrais Individual Work

In Functional Integration® the practitioner uses techniques of gentle touch and movement to effect changes in the student. These lessons are tailor made for the needs of students who wish to explore their movement in more depth or who are suffering from conditions which warrant individual attention.
